Privacy Policy

Short version: this site doesn't set cookies, doesn't use Google Analytics, and only collects your email address if you choose to sign up. Here are the details.

Who runs this site

Before You Fade (beforeyoufade.com) is operated by OPERATOR_NAME. Postal address: MAILING_ADDRESS. Contact: CONTACT_EMAIL. In this policy, "I" and "we" mean the operator.

What happens when you just read the site

  • Analytics. I use Umami Cloud, a cookieless analytics service, to count page views and clicks on buttons such as "Check current price." Umami doesn't set cookies or build a profile of you across sites. It records things like the page viewed, the referring site, browser type, device type and country. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, the analytics script doesn't record your visit.
  • Hosting. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may log technical data such as IP addresses to keep the service running and secure. I don't receive or use those logs.
  • Fonts and the site's own scripts are served from this site. The only third-party script is Umami's cookieless analytics script, loaded from Umami's servers (see Analytics above). There are no ad or font networks.
  • Local storage. On desktop, the site may save a single timestamp in your browser's local storage so the "Fade Reset" pop-up shows at most once every 30 days. It never leaves your device and you can clear it at any time.
  • The Fade Score quiz runs entirely in your browser. Your answers aren't sent or stored anywhere.

Email sign-ups

If you sign up for the 14-Day Fade Reset or other emails, your email address (and which form you used) is sent to MailerLite, the email service that stores the list and sends the emails on my behalf. Sign-up uses double opt-in: you'll get a confirmation email, and nothing else is sent until you confirm. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from future sends.

I use your email address only to send the emails you signed up for. I don't sell, rent or trade the list.

The one exception is required by my affiliate agreement: before any email goes out, the list is checked against the affiliate network's (SellHealth's) do-not-email list, and if you unsubscribe, your email address is sent to SellHealth only so it can be added to that list. It isn't used to market to you.

Affiliate links and third-party sites

"Check current price" buttons on review pages go through a redirect on this site (an address starting with /go/) and then to a third-party site run by SellHealth / Leading Edge Health, the company behind CortiSync. That site sets its own cookies (for example, to credit the sale to this site) and has its own privacy policy, which governs anything you do there. This site doesn't share your email address with that company for marketing.

Other outbound links (for example, to PubMed or NIH) are governed by those sites' own policies.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe from email at any time using the link in any email.
  • Ask for a copy of the personal information held about you, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to CONTACT_EMAIL.
  • Block or clear local storage in your browser settings.

I'll respond to requests within 30 days.

Retention

Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Analytics data is aggregate and kept by Umami under its own retention settings.

Children

This site is written for adults and isn't directed at children under 16. I don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
