Editorial Policy

Before You Fade is an affiliate publication funded by commissions. I earn money when readers buy certain products through links on this site, currently CortiSync through the SellHealth affiliate program. The opinions here are mine, Ray's, and nobody pays for placement: there are no sponsored posts, paid rankings or advertorials.

Who writes and reviews content

Every page is written or edited by me. I'm a software developer, not a clinician, and there is no medical reviewer. Health pages link to their sources so you can check them yourself.

Sources

Health claims are backed by peer-reviewed research (usually linked on PubMed), U.S. National Institutes of Health resources, or professional bodies such as the Endocrine Society. When research was funded by the company selling an ingredient, the page says so. When the evidence is weak or mixed, the page says that too.

Product claims

Statements about a product's ingredients, doses, prices and guarantee come from the manufacturer's own site or label and show the date they were checked. Claims the manufacturer makes are quoted word for word and attributed to them. My opinions are labeled as opinions. I don't repeat disease claims about supplements, and I don't publish third-party ratings, review counts or testimonials.

No paid placements

Companies can't pay to be reviewed, to be reviewed favorably, or to be ranked. If a product has an affiliate program, that fact doesn't change what I write about it, and comparison pages tell you when a cheaper option makes more sense.

Corrections

If I get something wrong, I fix it and note the change and date at the bottom of the page when it affects a conclusion. Send corrections through the contact page.

Update cadence

  • Prices and guarantee terms: checked monthly.
  • Reviews and comparison pages: re-read at least every six months, sooner when the product changes.
  • Articles: re-read at least once a year. Every page shows its "last reviewed" date.

Use of AI tools

I use AI writing tools to help with outlines, first drafts, research and code for this site. I read and edit everything before it is published and I'm responsible for every word. Sources are checked by hand, and first-hand notes (what I took, when, and what I noticed) are always mine.
